2022

 SUPERADOBE & COCCIOPESTO WORKSHOP    
​BUILD  AN EARTHEN OUTDOOR SHOWER
May 30th - June 5th /  2022  
Place: Casa di paglia Felcerossa, S. Alfio, Sicily, Italy 
Cost: Full course - 350 € / Module 1 - 250 € / Module 2 - 150 €   

Vide Terra in collaboration with the Maestro Danilo Dianti and Casa di paglia Felcerossa organize a theoretical and practical SuperAdobe & Cocciopesto Workshop in Sicily, near the majestic Etna volcano.

The workshop is composed of two modules and it puts together the skills of earth building and use of lime. During the first part of the workshop we will create an outdoor shower using the SuperAdobe (earthbag) building method. The second part will be dedicated to the ancient Cocciopesto plastering technique.

2020

THATCHING  WORKSHOP
Traditional techniques and Experimental Earth Dome Thatching
September 30th - October 3rd /  2020
Place: Paterno Calabro, Calabria (Italy)
Cost: 420 euros / 500 euros   

This four days workshop will focus on thatching techniques (to create roofs with plants fibers) that use straw, reed and broom.
The workshop will be held by Alan Jones, Master Thatcher from Wales. Students will benefit from Alan’s forty years of experience in traditional and sustainable thatching which spans historic and experimental archeology as well as contemporary thatching and advice for self builds. 
Part of the workshop will be dedicated to thatching a SuperAdobe Earth Dome using broom (a local plant available in most Mediterranean regions).

SUPERADOBE EARTH DOME WORKSHOP
20-26 June 2014
Place: Mornag Eco Farm, Tunis, Tunisia

We will build a 2 m (diameter) earth dome with the superadobe technique. The dome will have an door openig and a window opening.

The workshop will be an opportunity to explore:

Practice:
- Hands on construction of a complete 2 m  EARTH DOME(foundations, structure, plastering)
- Practical techniques on analyzing earth composition, ventilation  systems, geometry and
architecture to help you design your perfect home

Theory:
- History of the development of the EARTH DOME concept (from the  scientific research of
NASA to the foundation of Cal Earth Institute)
- Ideas and secrets for building your own perfect house

Four teachers will be following and leading you through the workshop:

From Tunisia:
Rabiaa Cherif (Architect/Instructor, practitioner on earth building construction techniques and coach on human/social development projects)

From Italy:
Davide Frasca (Specialist in eco-architecture, builder and instructor of SuperAdobe)

Donato Mancini ( Permaculture practitioner and builder of SuperAdobe)

Linda Pappagallo ( Journalist, working in the field of a private social enterprise,
passionate earth constructor and SuperAdobe techniques  practitioner)
