It is possible to build with earth!

Building
or buying a house has became a luxury only a few can afford.
Many own a house only thanks to an expensive loan. Is it normal that a house is a luxury? Food, water and a house are basic necessities and should be easily accessible by everyone. Is, then, a thirty year mortgage the only possible option? In order to find a solution we need to realize that often we are able to respond to our basic needs without being necessarily dependent on a system. The solution to our needs can be found around us, within us, or at least not so far from us. The advantage of choosing an earth home is not only that of having a healthy dwelling which doesn’t harm the environment, but also earth constructions give us an independence from a building industry that decides the value, and cost, of a home. It is possible to build a house with just the earth that is already beneath our feet, whose value is immense but whose cost could even be potentially zero. Building with earth means withdrawing from a fixed production chain, which extracts, transforms and transports the materials that are commonly used to build our houses. Building with earth means not supporting multinational corporations, which, as known, often make profit exploiting the resources of the planet and using cheap labour. Building with earth means freedom from an enslaving mortgage. We need to know that a mortgage isn't only a monetary commitment, but also a psychological commitment. It means accepting to live in fear, the fear of loosing a job, the fear that something unexpected could happen, the fear that the system could suddenly collapse. Accepting all of this means not allowing ourselves to slowdown when we need/want to. It is a rat race we can't really stop. This is the reason why the word “crisis” creates so much panic and stress. A fear starts when we are dependent on something which we can't control, and this fear grows as dependency grows. When an individual is aware that he can provide for his basic needs like food, water and a home, independently from a fluctuating market, from banks or from the decisions of another state, he becomes strong, secure and free from those fears. This leads to the self determination of a person and of an entire community. |
